More than 152,000 people live in Saguenay, 120 miles north of Quebec City, and Loto-Québec has announced the launch of a new gaming hall there.
Situated on Saguenay Fjord, which leads to the St. Lawrence River, this city is renowned for its natural beauty and national parks. The Delta Hotel and its conference center will house the new gaming hall.
In eighteen months, the project is expected to open. Along with aluminum and wood, Saguenay is a major economic driver for the area and attracts tourists. It is anticipated that the project will increase the number of visitors and conference attendees.
Gaming Hall Will Open in 18 Months
“We’re proud to present this project in Saguenay, a vibrant region known for its warm welcome and development potential,” said Jean-Francois Bergeron, President and Chief Executive Officer at Loto-Québec. “The Salon de jeux will generate positive spin-offs for the community, notably through job creation and tourist spending, as well as through the business partnerships that will arise.
“Our priority remains to offer an environment where gaming is overseen safely and responsibly, fostering low-risk gambling. Our teams are trained to support clients, and the location will benefit from state-of-the-art security systems.”
Jeux Salons
The venue will provide live entertainment and shows in addition to gaming possibilities, according to a Loto-Québec release. Several elected officials led yesterday's launch event in Saguenay. Among them were Saguenay Mayor Luc Boivin and Jonquière MNA Yannick Gagnon, along with leaders in the local economy and tourism.
The province's gaming is overseen by Loto-Québec. Three gaming halls, or "salons de jeux," are currently operating in Quebec: Salon de jeux de Quebec (located in Quebec City), Salon de jeux de Trois-Rivieres, and Salon de jeux de Rimouski (currently under construction and expected to open at the Hotel Rimouski in 2026). Slot machines, video lottery terminals, electronic roulette, and electronic blackjack are all found in gaming halls.
Economic Spin-Offs
"We enthusiastically welcome Loto-Québec to our city,” said Luc Boivin, Mayor of Saguenay. “Showcasing Saguenay is one of my priorities, and with this new location, which focuses on quality offerings in a safe environment, our city will strengthen its appeal as a tourist destination and gain a valuable asset for hosting business events. We’ll continue to support Loto-Québec to ensure the project’s success and generate economic spinoffs for the region as a whole.”
